Ford Motor Company gave an electrifying preview of its latest vehicles at the exclusive “Ford Detroit Proud” event ahead of the 2025 Detroit Auto Show. Detroit Lions quarterback Jared Goff took center stage, blending the excitement of football with Ford’s innovative automotive designs.
The event featured a lineup of unique vehicles, including the Mustang GTD Spirit of America and the Mustang RTR. Goff made a dramatic entrance in a Lions-themed, limited-edition F-150—one of just 800 produced—and added a personal touch by tossing autographed footballs to the crowd. Joined on stage by Andrew Frick, president of Ford Blue, and Anthony Bellino, the in-game host for the Detroit Lions, Goff charmed the audience with humor. “Just hanging out, getting a little rest, enjoying some of these beautiful cars,” Goff said. “I’m taking a lot of naps right now.”
Ford showcased an impressive selection of vehicles designed to captivate car enthusiasts and set the stage for the upcoming auto show. Vaughn Gittin Jr., founder of RTR Vehicles and a world champion drifter, thrilled attendees with a live demonstration of the Mustang RTR’s drifting capabilities. The car tore across the stage, leaving the audience in awe as it performed precision stunts. The Mustang RTR, touted as “the most exciting, enthusiast-focused EcoBoost Mustang ever,” shares components with the Mustang Dark Horse, which debuted at the 2022 Detroit Auto Show. While Ford withheld detailed performance specifications, the model’s dynamic design promises to impress performance car fans.
The Mustang GTD Spirit of America paid homage to Craig Breedlove, the legendary driver and engineer known for his record-breaking land speed achievements. This 815-horsepower beast, capable of reaching 202 miles per hour, is based on Ford’s GT3 racecar and represents a tribute to automotive excellence. With a price tag exceeding $300,000, the GTD blends cutting-edge engineering with a nod to history.
Ford also presented several other standout models, including the Ford Maverick Lobo, a lowrider-inspired take on the company’s smallest truck, and the Bronco Stroppe Edition, a tribute to the Baja 1000-winning Broncos of the 1970s. The Bronco Sport Badlands, Ford Expedition, and Ford Ranger Raptor pickup rounded out the diverse lineup.
