Understand/ Rail Plan

The 2011 Michigan State Rail Plan was published after the passage of the Passenger Rail Investment and Improvement Act (PRIIA) of 2008 but before the U.S. Federal Railroad Administration (FRA) issued its State Rail Plan Guidance in 2013. PRIIA established minimum content requirements for state rail plans, which consisted of twelve elements.

The Michigan Mobility 2045 Plan is the first of its kind to incorporate not only an overall vision of the state's transportation system, but to include two federally required documents: the State Rail Plan and the State Freight Plan. Combined, these three documents provide a streamlined vision of Michigan's transportation future across all modes.
